- 1985-90: University studies at the Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj (Romania).
- 1990: M.Sc. in chemical engineering.
- 1993-1996: Postgraduate studies at the Eötvös Loránd University Graduate Shool.
- 1994-1998: Member of the Bolyai College of the Eötvös Loránd University.
- 1997: Received Ph.D. degree. Thesis entitled: Mechanism of hydrolysis of spiro-λ4-sulfanes with O-S(IV)-O and N-S(IV)-O axial bond system (Prof. Ferenc Ruff, advisor).
- 1999-2001 and 2004-2005: Received a János Bolyai Research Scholarship from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

- Kinetics of nucleophilic reactions of hypervalent sulphur(IV) compounds, such as diarylbis(acyloxy)- and diaryl(acylamino)(acyloxy)spiro-λ4-sulfanes
- Conformational analysis of peptides, peptidomimetics and proteins by FTIR and chiroptical (CD, VCD) spectroscopic methods.
- Determination of the absolute configuration and conformation of chiral organic molecules by vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectroscopy.
- FTIR and VCD spectroscopic investigation of transition metal complexes containing chiral organic ligands.
